The Essence of Luxury in Dining Tables

Definition of Luxury

You can’t fake luxury. Our expanding round tables incorporate genuine hardwoods and exotic woods handcrafted with quality finishes to create a beautiful, genuine masterpiece. Not only do our materials establish luxurious visuals, but they’re also durable and long-lasting so that your table stays looking brand new for years to come.

Sourcing Sustainable Wood

The selection and procurement of sustainable, high-quality wood for our tables are tailored to the specific wood species needed. We obtain our supply from a local distributor here in the Valley for American wood tables, such as cherry, walnut, and oak.

For exotic wood varieties like teak, bubinga, or afrormosia, we secure our materials from a distributor based in Maryland. Similarly, our veneer and burl wood tables are supplied by multiple suppliers, with the choice depending on factors like size, quantity, and the particular wood species required.

Material Characteristics

Each of our expanding round tables is made with genuine hardwood and exotic wood options. Below, we’ve outlined our primary wood selections and provided images of our tables crafted with these wood materials.

Exploring Finish Options

At Lotus Woodworks, we offer various finish options, each uniquely impacting your expanding round table’s appearance. Our finishes include a two-part custom color toning/glaze or a multiple-coat flat or satin conversion varnish top coat; both are included in the starting price.

For our grain-filled high gloss finishes, variable contrasting colors, or any finish requirements that exceed time and materials, there’s an up-charge and will add to the production time.

The Application Process

Our most common finishing process is a multi-step process that combines vinyl sealing and coloring, followed by a conversion varnish top coat that can achieve a matte to high gloss sheen. The process begins with a light application of clear vinyl, which seals and raises the wood grain.

Following this, we perform a second round of sanding before applying additional layers of vinyl, incorporating the necessary color requirements in each coat. Once the desired color is achieved, we apply two coats of conversion varnish.

This is the typical application process for our expanding round tables, but our high-gloss grain-filled finishes, such as those found on the Honey and Norman tables, demand an entirely different and more time-consuming sealing process.

Customization and Personalization

Our customers have the freedom to select the leaf size, type of wood, base design, and finish for their tables. In addition to the choices included in our initial pricing, we offer additional customizations for those who want to further elevate the individuality of their table.

Expanding Round Table Operation

Expand your table to accommodate guests in minutes.

Operating the table is a simple process. Since the table top is on a locking carousel, you can open and close the table from one place instead of having to walk around the table. First pull each pie out and unfold each leaf. Then push each leaf into the center and then each pie to lock it all into place. There is a lock underneath to keep the table from spinning.

PRICING

Included in the pricing of every custom Lotus Table:

Wood Selection

We source the highest quality lumber available for each table we build and are meticulous in culling for wood density, moisture content and the specific grain patterns our clients require. Your choice of most American hardwoods are included in the starting price. Exotic woods are up charged at current market price.

Bases

We offer six standard bases. The Ball, Caporaso and Curved Column bases are included in the starting price. The Corbels, Tapered and Barrel base are upgrades. If you have an interest in a different style base or would like to create a truly original custom, we will guide you through the process.

Top Design

Unique top designs and custom inlays are one of our fortes! Each table top design poses different challenges that are priced accordingly. A more simple straight grain table top is included in the starting price.

Our Finish

This is the most important part of the process. We are proud of exceeding expectations by delivering the highest level of color corrected and top coatings available. Physical approval samples are sent for each table and revisions are made until our client is satisfied. A two part custom color toning and/or glaze and a multiple coat flat or satin conversion varnish top coat is included in the starting price. Grain filled high gloss finishes, variable contrasting colors or any finish requirements that exceed time and materials allotted are an up-charge and will add to the production time.

Bench Made

In Our Workshop all of our pieces are hand-made, start to finish, by a single craftsman. We approach each table as a unique piece of art that must be functional and maintain its beauty for years to come. This requires one individual to accept full control and responsibility for the detailed precision and process execution to achieve.

Final Assembly and Inspection

Each piece is inspected, signed and delicately wrapped before it makes its way to your home.

White Glove Delivery

We offer white-glove delivery, assuring you that someone from our family will usher your new work of art all the way to its destination.
